The Foundation Behind Nurture Works

I’ve always loved babies.

With my father, a physician who first introduced me to the world of medicine.
When I was younger, I used to say I wanted to be a “baby doctor.” My father was a physician, and throughout my childhood I spent summers and school holidays working in his office. Watching him care for patients gave me an early understanding of what it means to serve others through medicine.
That foundation was invaluable. But even then, I knew I would not follow his path exactly.
My father cared for adults. I felt drawn to serve families in a different way.
My fascination with babies began early. My brother and I were both born at home, and I was in the room when he was born, attended by a midwife. I grew up watching shows like Birth Day on TLC, completely captivated by the beginning of life. I am also named after my great grandmother, who was a midwife.
For a long time, I believed I would become a nurse midwife.
But through my experience as a nurse attending deliveries and working in the NICU, something became very clear to me. My passion was not only birth. It was caring for babies themselves.
That realization led me to become a pediatric nurse practitioner. Pediatrics prepared me to serve children and families from birth through young adulthood, but I remained especially drawn to newborns. The earliest weeks of life are powerful, formative, and often overwhelming for families.
Recently, I was reminded of the parable about building a house on sand versus building on a rock.
The message is simple. What you build on matters.
When it comes to newborn care, too many parents are given information built on sand. Misinformation, chaos, overwhelming advice, and fear based messaging can increase anxiety instead of providing clarity.
My vision for Nurture Works is to be something different.
A rock.
A steady foundation parents can build on during the first twelve weeks of their baby’s life.
A foundation built on calm, simplicity, and clear guidance so parents can move through the newborn period with greater confidence and steadiness.
The newborn stage sets the tone for everything that follows.
My mission with Nurture Works is to help families start from solid ground.
